Applying for a Visa
Important changes to Visa applications
As of 1 March 2015, the way in which Visa Applications can be submitted in the UK will change. From the 1st of March 2015, all visa applicants will only be able to submit their visa applications upon appointment at the VFS offices in London, Manchester and Edinburgh. As of this date, it will no longer be possible to apply for a visa at the Netherlands Embassy in London or the consulates in Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Harwich, Hamilton Bermuda, Hull, Liverpool, Manchester, Southampton and Dover.
Given current budgetary constraints, it will unfortunately no longer be possible to provide this relatively expensive service across the whole of the UK. For further details of how to apply for a visa or to make an appointment with one of the visa centres (from 1 March 2015), we recommend you to check the VFS website.
The following applicants will still be allowed to submit their application at the Embassy in London after the 1st of March 2015: diplomats, MVV applicants and applicants for the Dutch Caribbean. All other categories, including Orange Carpet, will have to go to VFS. There may be exceptions, but these will be dealt with on an individual basis after the applicant has notified the Embassy of the emergency or special circumstances. It will be up to the Embassy’s discretion to decide whether the applicant may or may not submit their application at the Embassy.
Until the end of February you can apply for a Schengen visa at VFS or at your nearest Netherlands Consulate.
Please note that appointment systems are being operated. To book an appointment at a Consulate please contact the Consulate directly.
For Schengen visa information, appointments and requirements, please visit the website of the Netherlands Visa Application Centre (VFS).
