The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in London, United Kingdom

Naturalisation ceremony

“I swear that I will respect the constitutional order of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, its freedoms and rights, and I swear that I will faithfully fulfil my duties as a Dutch citizen.”

With these words (spoken in Dutch), ten residents of the UK began their new lives as Dutch citizens last week. Ambassador Simon Smits, who presided over the naturalisation ceremony, wished the “New Nederlanders” all a very warm welcome and the best of luck in their future lives. They join an exclusive group of around 40 new citizens of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who were naturalised at the Embassy in London this year. The Ambassador told us that this is one of his favourite parts of his job!
